According to an interview by The Verge with OnePlus' Chief Designer, Hope Liu, the new OnePlus 10T is introducing a unique design that removes the side switch mute button that was available on past versions. The said switch was a known trademark or significant design for OnePlus' releases, and it sees an end to its addition to its smartphones.
According to Liu, the 10T's removal of the side switch is not only a cosmetics delete but also a functional venture for the company that will integrate new features for the smartphone in lieu of the removed hardware.
The chief designer said that its removal helped in freeing up internal space, focusing on integrating "high wattage charging, a large battery capacity, and better antenna signal."
