"Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" remake for PlayStation 5 (PS5) and PC is now "indefinitely delayed," pausing the development of the Aspyr Media gaming title.

Its pause comes after the design director and art director of the remake has been fired after they showcased the game to both Sony and Lucasfilm.

'Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake 'Indefinitely Delayed'

As per the latest news story by The Verge, the remake of the "Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR)" for the next generation Sony consoles and PC first saw the shimmer of the spotlight in September 2021 during the fall showcase of the PlayStation maker.

However, the online tech news outlet notes that despite the announcement of Sony, the developer of the KOTOR remake, Aspyr Media, has yet to reveal any timeline for the upcoming game.

It is worth noting that the remake of KOTOR is already three years in the making, but it has yet to release to the players of PS5 gaming consoles and PC.

Initially, the remake of Star Wars: KOTOR is supposed to debut sometime in the latter part of 2022. But with its development now on hold, a recent report from Bloomberg suggests that the more "realistic target" now is 2025.

Bloomberg further reports that Aspyr Media kicked the design director, Jason Minor, and the art director, Brad Prince, during the start of July.

And as such, the development of the Star Wars: KOTOR remake has been affected by the departure of its art director and design director.

In turn, Aspyr Media has decided to put the development of its upcoming remake of the iconic gaming title on hold.

And on top of the development pause, the target release of the KOTOR remake has also been pushed to 2025, according to the recent story by For The Win of USA Today.

The media outlet notes that the leadership of the developer of the Star Wars: KOTOR remake was unimpressed with its slice demo presented last month or in June.

Aspyr Media has reportedly told the staff working on the remake that its development is now put on hold "indefinitely."

And for the meantime, the developer of KOTOR for PS5 and PC is still figuring out what to do next for the upcoming game as it gears up for its debut in 2025.

It is worth noting that the original "Star Wars: KOTOR" debuted way back in 2003, which was developed by BioWare. But this time, Asphyr is working to bring its remake to Sony PS5 consoles and PC.
