Twitter Blue Subscription Fee Increase

While Twitter, for the longest time, has been completely available for free, it all changed last year.

The social media giant introduced its subscription service in the latter part of 2021, bringing exclusive features that its free users missed out on, as per the latest news story from The Verge.

It brings highly-requested functions like the edit button for those willing to shell out a total of $2.99 per month.

But this time, it appears that Twitter has decided to increase the price of its subscription service for the first time, several months after its launch.

Twitter Blue is set to hike its current $2.99 monthly subscription fee to $4.99 per month, the social media giant has told its existing subscribers.

The team behind the Twitter subscription service told its users that the price hike should help them "continue to build some of the features you've been asking for."

The new $4.99 subscription fee also helps the Twitter Blue team to "improve upon the current ones you already love.

Not to mention that the email also said that the price increase should also help them in their mission to support journalism.

According to a recent report by 9to5 Mac, the existing subscribers of Twitter Blue are getting the new pricing starting this October. So it means that their fees for August and September shall remain at $2.99.

But on the other hand, new folks getting their hands on Twitter Blue will be charged with the subscription pricing, which costs $4.99 per month.

As such, if you are considering subscribing to Twitter Blue, take note that it now costs more.

The price increase is apparently not exclusively in the US. Subscribers in New Zealand will have to pay 6.99 NZD once the increase takes effect.

Twitter Blue in Canada hikes its subscription price to 6.49 CAD, whereas it jumps to 6.99 AUD in Australia.
