Tesla Mobile Connector is Back in Stock

As per the latest news story by Tesla North, it has been a few months since the Elon Musk-owned all-electric automaker decided to completely remove its free Mobile Connector charger as inclusion for EV purchases.

The news outlet reports that the charger of Tesla, which used to be included when customers buy their vehicles, is now back on its online website.

The return of the Mobile Connector charges comes a few weeks after it has been out of stock at the Tesla Shop since it bid goodbye to new orders.

But this time, Tesla EV owners could buy the Mobile Connector kit, which includes a NEMA 5-15 adapter, for only $200, bringing down its previous price tag of $550.

Tesla Mobile Connector Removed from New Order Inclusions

The renowned EV maker completely removed its Mobile Connector charger for new orders of its vehicles last April.

In turn, Tesla customers could no longer get a free charger when they purchase the vehicles of the tech giant, such as the Model 3 sedan, Model S, Model Y crossover, and Model X SUV.

The move of the giant automaker is familiar to customers of Apple, which has controversially ditched the charger in the box of its brand new iPhones.

According to a recent report by Phone Arena, the Cupertino-based tech firm argues that it helps the iPhone maker to be more environmentally friendly, essentially bringing down e-waste for the long term.

The phone maker says it has reduced its yearly carbon emission by roughly 2 million metric tons.

But on the other hand, Tesla had a slightly different reason behind it.

Why did Tesla Remove the Mobile Connector for New Orders?

The Tesla Chief Executive Officer and founder, Musk, justified the recent move of Tesla in his tweet last April, as per a report by Gizmodo Australia.

The big boss of Tesla explained that the "usage statistic" of its Mobile Connector charger is "super lower." And as such, the billionaire entrepreneur believes that its inclusion of new orders "seemed wasteful."

It is worth noting, though, that the existing orders of Tesla customers will still include a mobile charger. But on the flip side, folks placing new orders would no longer get their hands on it for free. Instead, they will have to purchase it now separately for $200.
