"Overwatch 2" could be charging $45 for a major skin upgrade. A new Mythic Skin costs players $45, which is a huge surprise for some gamers.

Blizzard Could Increase the Prices of Its Mythic Skins to $45 for 'Overwatch 2'

According to Stevivor, "Overwatch 2" skins could cost as much as $45. According to the story by Dexerto, a certain user on Twitter went viral for revealing that Blizzard is planning to charge up to $45 for skins.

Portergauge shared a post noting that their friend was able to get an Overwatch survey for his account, and it showed that the prices of "OW2" are going to be quite expensive. It was noted that they hoped that it was just him getting the higher price surveys which is not an indication that "they're leaning towards this much monetization."

Survey Asks Whether Buyers are Interested in Purchasing Mythic and Legendary Skins at a New Price

The survey asked about the likelihood of people that would be willing to buy a Mythic Skin if it was priced at $44.99 and a Legendary skin at $24.99. The company also tested the price of $4.99 for three different sprays, which include $19.99 for an emote as well as $9.99 for a weapon charm.

With the removal of loot boxes completely, Blizzard has decided to shift everything optioned within loot boxes directly over to obtainable content through shop purchases or Battle Pass. The article notes, however, that Blizzard is likely just trying to test out the price points, and it is still unlikely that the prices will hit that mark upon launch.

Other Free-to-Play Games are Charging Much Higher Prices with 'Diablo Immortal' Costing Over $100K

The notion of free-to-play titles that come with big microtransactions is not new. The article by Stevivor noted that "Diablo Immortal" has been raked as one of the most expensive games as a single character could require over $100K in order to max out.

Yet another game called "MultiVersus," which is another free-to-play game, sells a single Batman skin for a little over $20. As noted by a certain Reddit user, $30 for the highest tier skin is not that surprising, but they "just kinda blew past that."

New Prices Might Not be Final

"Overwatch 2" is a free-to-play game that is available for Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, the PlayStation 5, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch. According to PC Games N, the details remain unconfirmed as of press time.

It was noted that fans can find out the real scoop as to whether the new rumored pricing will be followed until its release in October. It was noted that it is completely possible that Blizzard is only checking whether or not gamers will actually buy the skins through the survey.
