The company confirms that Fitbit Connect, an app that features PC syncing, will be phased out soon. The discontinuity of this application will mean that users can no longer sync their devices with a desktop device such as Windows PC and Mac.

This will take effect starting Oct. 13, so users still have a lot of time to test this out before it gets terminated.

Fitbit Connect won't be available anymore in the next two months. You won't be able to sync the fitness trackers with PC and Mac

Since the release of Fitbit's fitness trackers, the company has allowed its customers to sync their gadgets with computers. They usually do this because they want to transfer data from the source to another outlet.

The desktops serve as the storage of the files. Since then, moving different apps from the smartwatch has become easier.

Unfortunately, the Fitbit Connect app will soon be stopped, and by that time, you can no longer use the software for file transfers for PCs.

Like any other software that is set to end its service due to inactivity, that could be the potential case for Fitbit. Of course, the developers should maintain the usability of an app regardless if the users seldom use it.

According to Slash Gear, a rarely-used feature could open an attack for threat actors to operate. As such, they could take advantage of the software by creating unauthorized access to it.

Moreover, this could be the reason why Fitbit chose to part ways with Connect's desktop support. Since only a few users are still using this, it's safe to say that it's now ready to be pulled out for usage.

What's Next After Fitbit Connect Discontinuation?

According to another report from News9, there are alternatives for Fitbit Connect that you can use. The company said in a statement that users who wish to transfer audio or store their files on their smartwatch could rely on the Pandora app and the Deezer app.

More importantly, these are the only known substitutes that you can use so far. Take note that they won't come without any charges. You will be required to subscribe to these services before you access the feature.

That's their main difference with the Fitbit Connect. This software is free to use, and you won't pay any cent if you want to start moving your music from one place to another.

Since there are still two months left before this takes effect, you need to relocate your audio files to another folder immediately. It should be noted that the upcoming change won't affect Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 users.

This announcement only applies to old Fitbit users. Take advantage of the remaining time, and don't forget to save your files to another location.
