Although it was able to release software fixes back in July, there were still some serious issues that could lead to severe breaches.

This August, Apple launched some major security fixes for two severe iOS flaws. Cybersecurity experts confirmed that these vulnerabilities were already used by hackers and other online attackers in the wild.

The giant iPhone maker ensured that these two iOS issues were fixed ASAP since hackers can combine them together, leading to serious cybersecurity consequences.

Security researchers explained that if an attack involving the flaws is successful, cybercriminals could take over consumers' iPhones.

They can also acquire sensitive files and banking details. On the other hand, chaining the WebKit and Kernel flaws can allow online attackers to get all functionalities needed to conduct an iPhone jailbreak.

Once this happens, they can bypass all of Apple's security restrictions, as explained by Sophos principal research scientist Paul Ducklin.

What You Need to Do

Since the new needed fixes for the two serious iOS flaws are on the latest iOS 15.6.1, all you need to do is update your iPhone's operating system.

Business Insider provided all the needed steps you can follow to do this:

  1. First, you need to open your Settings app and click the "General" button.
  2. After that, tap on the Software Update option and check if the iOS 15.6.1 version is there.
  3. If the needed iOS system is already available on your device, click the "Download and Install" button to continue.
