"Pokemon GO" newest season kicks off today. Featuring a sparkling motif, the AR game's next season is dubbed the "Season of Light." As shown in its opening trailer, this "Pokemon GO" season will feature a space theme highlighting stars, nebulas, and a new cool Pokemon.

Professor Willow Is Back

Aside from the new space-themed season, players have also noticed that a familiar face in the game has returned. After being gone for the last season, one of Pokemon Go's main characters, Professor Willow, is making a comeback. This follows Willow's sudden departure from the game when "Pokemon GO" decided to replace him with Rhi during the recently concluded Pokemon GO Fest 2022.

Kotaku tells us that a group of Ultra Beasts also appeared at the Pokémon GO Fest 2022 finale event. This occasion signaled the conclusion of the robotic Rhi storyline and, more crucially, Professor Willow's reappearance, who is now sporting a motorcycle jacket.

For a while, it was believed that Rhi had completely supplanted Willow in Pokemon Go. This includes the complete wipe-out of every mention of Willow in the game, who has been the main figure guiding millions of GO players for the previous six years.

Cosmic Companion Special Research

Players now have a new Special Research mission to complete in Pokemon GO, which also comes with some interesting new rewards. Fans of Pokemon GO now have the option to take on the new challenges "Season of Light" has to offer.

The information available on the game's official website state that for the entire "Season of Light" event timeframe, there will be even more space-related content available.

A report from GameRant informs us that legendary Pokemon Cosmog has traveled through the Ultra Beast wormhole with Professor Willow. Cosmog is one of the latest Gen 7 Pokemons to join the game.

Various Pokedex entries describe Cosmog as a gaseous and frail Pokemon feeding off clouds of dust that it collects from the atmosphere. Like legendary Pokemons Creselia and Deoxys, Cosmog is also speculated to originate from far beyond the known galaxy.

Cosmog and Nebula Sky

Through a brand-new Special Research mission dubbed "A Cosmic Companion," Cosmog will be introduced to the augmented reality game. The said special mission will be taking place throughout the "Season of Light." The Special Research's first parts are now currently accessible.

According to official announcements, Season of Light Special Research can be unlocked starting Sept. 1, and this event will be concluding on Dec. 1. Aside from the exciting quests and challenges, players should also watch out for Nebula Sky. This in-game phenomenon is said to appear periodically as the season progresses.

Professor Willow is not the only one getting a makeover in this patch. Players can also obtain avatar items inspired by Nebula Pokemon Cosmog. This features a brightly colored purple jacket over a cute Cosmog tee. Its main feature is a Cosmog headgear. According to the official announcement, the Cosmog avatar items will be available in the in-game shop soon.
