A Google Chrome security vulnerability was just discovered and patched over the weekend. Users of the browser are now urged to update in order to deal with the urgent bug problem.

Google Urged Users to Update Their Chromium-Based Browsers Immediately

According to the story by CNet, for those using Google Chrome or other Chromium-based browsers, it's important to check for a critical security update. Just recently, Google released a new Chrome update in order to patch an important vulnerability that has been exploited in cyberattacks that were described as still "ongoing."

The lapse in security reportedly involves different back-end libraries known as Mojo. These libraries are reportedly used by different Chromium-based browsers, which include the likes of Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Brave.

The Zero-Day Vulnerability was Called the CVE-2022-307 and can be Fixed with a Google Update Patch

The zero-day vulnerability has been immediately classified as high severity and has been given the label of CVE-2022-307, as detailed by ZDNet. The Google update patch helps fix the vulnerability and allows users to upload their current version of Chrome to the 105.0.5195.102 version.

It was noted that food those that have not yet applied the recent update or do not have updates turned on automatically, there are a few steps to take in order to update the users' Chrome version.

Google Chrome is Usually Automatically Updated for Android Devices

It was noted that by default, Android phones and tablets usually allow Google Chrome to update itself automatically. For those that have disabled the setting, however, the option can easily be turned back on through the three-dotmenu on the Play Store page's app to help change the settings.

STEP 1: Go to the Play Store app

STEP 2: Click the profile icon on the top right corner

STEP 3: Check the Manage apps &* device option

STEP 4: Bring up the Overview tab

Alternative method

STEP 1: Go to the Overview tab

STEP 2: Check if it says All apps up to date or Updates available

STEP 3: If Updates Available shows, click on it

STEP 4: Browse through the list of apps and look for Google Chrome

STEP 5: Click on the Update choice beside the app's name.

How to Check if Google Chrome has been Updated on Chrome on Desktop

STEP 1: Open Google Chrome

STEP 2: Click on the More option

STEP 3: Check if there is a green icon

STEP 4: Select Help

STEP 5: Choose About Google Chrome

STEP 6: Click on the Update Google Chrome

STEP 7: Relaunch Google Chrome

After this, Google Chrome will restart itself and users will be automatically up to date with the newer version of the browser. The company urges users to update their browsers right away to help combat the vulnerability.
