Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are getting their last and final Android 12 update, three years since the renowned tech giant introduced them.

It comes after Google stated that the Pixel 3a lineup would get its last software update sometime in July. But it turns out that the final release for the three-year-old Pixel mobile device is rolling out this September.

Google Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL Last Android Update

As per the latest news by 9to5 Google, it has been three years since the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL first saw the light of day.

Since then, the search engine giant has already released a handful of new Pixel phones with the Pixel 6a as the newest of them all.

And this time, the three-year-old Pixel devices are getting their final software update as it receives a new Android 12L release.

9to5 Google highlights in its report that the two Pixel 3a phones are getting the new SP2A.220505.008 release, replacing the previous SP2A.220505.006 update.

The online news outlet went on to note that the final update of Pixel 3a devices was supposed to roll out last July, according to the announcement by Google several months ago. But months went on since and the Pixel 3a and 3a XL have yet to get their last update until today.

It is worth mentioning that it is the fourth Pixel lineup to have stopped getting any new updates, which includes older phones like the first-ever Pixel, the Pixel 2, and the newer Pixel 3.

Android 12L Update: What to Expect

It looks like the last update for the Pixel 3a smartphones is none other than the Android 12L release.

9to5 Google reports that the 12L update does not include any radical changes. Instead, it brings some improvements to make the overall experience much better. Not to mention that it refines the performance of Android 12.

So there's not much really to expect from the final update for the Pixel 3a lineup except for a couple of bug fixes and performance improvements.

Google Pixel 3a Lineup

Google introduced the Pixel 3a phones, including the standard option and the XL variant, during the packed I/O 2019 event.

It was the first-ever mid-range device that the search engine giant introduced in its Pixel phone branding, according to a recent report by Android Authority.

During its launch in 2019, the Pixel 3a phone flaunted a mighty Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor. It is also capable of some multi-tasking loads thanks to its 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB storage.
