And it looks like the renowned all-electric carmaker is looking at various sites in Canada as it gears for its next Giga auto facility.

Tesla Gigafactory Canada?

According to a recent report by Tech Crunch, no less than the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tesla, Musk, teased way back in August that the giant EV maker is looking for the location of its next Gigafactory.

And during the annual shareholder event, the news outlet reports that the big boss of the automaker readily revealed that he is half-Canadian, hinting at the potential Gigafactory locations. It comes as the crowd blurted out Canada when the Tesla CEO mentioned the plan of building a new auto facility elsewhere.

However, the Gigafactory in Canada has yet to be official as it needs a few discussions with the government of Canada before its construction starts.

But given that, Tech Crunch notes in its report that a lobbyist registration from the EV maker suggests that the tech giant is looking to set its foot in the Canadian nation.

In fact, the lobbyists of the EV maker proposed to build an "industrial and/or advanced manufacturing facility," which they touted to "increase the competitiveness of Ontario. On top of that, the Tesla facility also seeks to "attract capital investment" along the way.

And this time, as per the latest news by Inside EVs, it seems that the giant automaker is making progress in its attempt to find a new Gigafactory location.

Canadian Government Confirms Talks with Tesla

The online EV news site reports that no less than the industry and innovation minister of Canada, Francois-Philippe Champagne, have spoken regarding their talks with the EV maker.

Champagne did not hesitate to admit that they have started their discussions with the renowned American automaker, noting that "Yes. I'm talking to them."

But the industry and innovation minister disclosed that he is not exclusively in contact with Tesla. Instead, he revealed that he is also talking "to all the automakers around the world."
