The Apple Watch Ultra is a device with "breakthrough capabilities," says the company, particularly as it aims to cater to more "extreme activities" that users may venture into with the new wearable device. It serves as the most rugged and adventure-centered Apple Watch to date, and it brings a new option for outdoor hobbies to get in sync with the smartwatch.

However, the question now is would it be enough to beat other tech wearables which offer the same promises for outdoor use?

Apple introduced the "Apple Watch Ultra" to the world last September 8, and the company brought a new smartwatch that aims to deliver better capabilities for outdoor use. With its 49mm screen and better brightness to appear despite being under direct sunlight, the smartwatch delivers on its promises for a more rugged experience.

The Cupertino giant also upgraded the Ultra's batteries to last for 36 hours on regular use, 60 hours on low power mode, and only 12 hours for continued access to its GPS capabilities.

Additionally, other new features include the Oceanic+ feature for recreational diving, an extra action button, more microphones for better calls, Pacer for tracking, Compass with an improved GPS, and more nifty features.

According to Android Central, the device's battery life is relatively low compared to Garmin's Fenix 7, which promises to last 18 days for its regular use, 57 hours for GPS, and up to 136 hours in its low-power mode.

The initial review from Android Central said that the new Apple Watch Ultra brought massive features for runners and hikers, with more tracking features on activities and health, like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.

However, unlike other smartwatches like the Garmin, Suunto, and other brands, it did not include what to do with these data. Other brands feature a "coach" on their watch for better activities in the next adventure, with Apple catering more to runners in this case.

Apple's New Rugged Smartwatch

The recent Apple "Far Out" September event brought everyone to the world of the iPhone 14 and the many accessories that came with the device. However, apart from its notable release of the new smartphone, the company also featured its first three-variant release for the Apple Watch lineup, with the Series 8, SE, and Ultra unveiled to all.

The third variant is a new one, and it was previously believed to be the "Apple Watch Pro" that will cater to more active users who will use the smartwatch for their outdoor needs and other ventures. And while speculations and rumors were accurate with the device's new size and features, they did not get the name right as it comes out as the Apple Watch Ultra.

Nevertheless, it is the rugged device that leakers promised to the world, with Apple delivering on it via its latest showcase.

While Apple Watch Ultra brought the world many new features and all the gizmos that one would expect from a watch for adventures, it still is centering on the Apple Watch's features. Initial speculations for the watch disappointed some reviews for its capabilities, with the device not very promising on its rugged vibes, unlike which that of Garmin, Suunto, Instinct, and more.
