Last week, Sept 8, a "Minecraft" creator finally reached the peak of redstone engineering by creating a fully playable version of Minecraft inside Minecraft without any mods, command blocks, or even a single data pack addition.

"Minecraft" user 'sammyuri' succeeded in creating a version of the block game that can support an 8x8x8 fully 3d-rendered world with 16 different block types, 32 different items, and a plethora of game mechanics such as mining, crafting, smelting, building, chests, random ticks, and more.

Just when we thought making and playing "Minecraft" within "Minecraft" was already an impressive feat, a user recently claims to create the 1993 classic first-person shooter game "Doom" in the sandbox game. According to Gamerant, a Minecraft user has uploaded a video of the original "Doom" running in Mojang's open-world sandbox title.

Doom in Minecraft?

Playing "Doom" inside "Minecraft" is a thing many players have been doing since 2020, where people install mods to the game to incorporate the classic FPS game's mechanics. This "Doom" Minecraft game is different because it does not require mods to run the game properly. You may not believe it at first, but this "Doom" game is running on vanilla "Minecraft."

According to user science_dude123, its creator, the game can run all of Doom's features. Players can use and pick up weapons, open doors, and even progress their game level in the game. All of that features are available without the use of mods or plug-ins.

How Is this Possible?

The creator explains that he has managed to simplify the entire game to fit inside a single data pack that contains more than two million commands. The "Minecraft" creator tells the public in a Reddit post that he made this feat with the help of a program called "Wasmcraft."Player Creates and Plays 'Doom' in 'Minecraft' with No Mods

"Wasmcraft" saves any creator from the hassle of manually creating commands. This program, also developed by science_dude123, can translate game source codes to "Minecraft" commands. With a few tweaks, the creator can decrypt game codes from any game title to fit in a single data pack.

This mechanism developed by the creator can also run games like "Minecraft" inside "Minecraft." The creator also emphasized that playing is not yet smooth as the footage he shows in the Reddit post is running at 1/500th speed.

This project is definitely not something you can use to replace the original FPS game. Despite the fact that it still runs roughly and slowly, it can still be considered an impressive feat, given that the creator did not use any kind of mods to finish the project.

In other news, Mojang has confirmed the date for Minecraft Live 2022: Oct 15. In their latest announcement, Mojang has announced that the Mob Vote will be back for this year's edition of Minecraft Live. Instead of voting on Twitter, players can now choose their mob bets through a special Bedrock server. Minecraft has yet to announce which mobs will be featured in the mob vote.
