TikTok is well-known not just for its dance trends but also for its features that have inspired Meta to replicate TikTok videos into "reels" on Instagram and Facebook.

YouTube's own version called "Shorts" will now have a TikTok-like feature as well. It will allow content creators to reply to comments on their videos with Shorts, as reported first by Tech Crunch.

"Invite your audience to connect with you via this new feature by answering their questions in your Shorts, taking content requests, reacting to comments in your videos, and whatever else you come up with," YouTube said in a post

This can come in helpful for creators who wish to follow up on some fan comments made on a video. To do this, making a quick video is simpler and more casual than shooting a full-length video.

How Does it Work?

This is how the feature works:

1. Head over to your video or a short and open the comment section.

2. Choose a comment that you want to reply to.

3. Select the 'Create a Short' to reply to that comment with a short video.

Is it Available on Both iOS and Android?

All iOS users are presently receiving the feature, and YouTube is aiming to make it available on Android soon. Additionally, the business is exploring a tool that will alert fans when a creator uses one of their comments in a Short.

YouTube said earlier this year that 1.5 billion logged-in people watch YouTube Shorts each month. The option to "respond to a comment with a Short" is one feature that will encourage content providers to produce more videos.

As a result, fans will have more content to enjoy, and YouTube's overall viewership may rise.

The "reply with a short video" trend caught on YouTube relatively late. TikTok first released this feature in 2020, and in December of last year, Instagram unveiled its version under the name "Reels Visual Replies."

YouTube Shorts Ads Are Now Vertical

To apply vertical adverts from landscape videos to its newest video format, YouTube Shorts, the company is also using machine learning to improve its technology.

This means that more ads are coming to YouTube Shorts, and users will be able to view the most recent example of the company's revenue strategy through the vertical experience.

Similar to Reels on Facebook and Instagram, YouTube Shorts is now blasting advertisements to its vertical video feed. The firm has included this on monetized videos as well as those produced under its creator program.

The business claimed in a recent blog post that its most recent feature, allowing users to change adverts into a new portrait style, allows advertisers to join the vertical video trend.

While some shoot their commercials only in a vertical format to make them available, those that produce their advertising in landscape format will now have the option to change how they appear using the company's system.
