An attendee photographs the electric port of the Chinese auto manufacturer GAC's new electric vehicle, the GE3, during the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, January 9, 2017.

The Chinese carmaker announced its plans for a rapid charging EV last month, or on August 22, to be more exact.

GAC also introduced its new 6C super-fast charging technology, which would see the light of day once the Aion V debuts. It essentially allows the battery to top up at 33.1. kWh in the first four minutes of charging.

The automaker also plans to release an Aion variant with a 3C battery, which is slower than the ultra-fast 6C option.

GAC Aion Charging Test: 30 to 80 in 11 Minutes?

And this time, according to the latest news by Inside EVs, a YouTube channel, Fully Charged, has finally tried out the GAC Aion.

However, it is worth mentioning that Fully Charged only got their hands on the 3C battery variant of the GAC Aion V. It comes as the 6C, which seeks to fully charge batteries in less than 10 minutes, is still under development. But the results were still impressive for the slower 3C battery.

To be more precise, the YouTube video featuring the GAC Aion V 3C charged from nearly 30% battery status to 80% in merely 10 minutes.

InsideEVs notes that the 6C battery technology is likely to perform twice as fast as the current 3C option.

So it looks like it will definitely reach the eight minutes of full charge that the Chinese automaker is attempting to work on. But it remains to be seen as it has yet to conclude its development.

GAC says the 3C technology should only take 18 minutes to fully charge, whereas it should reach 0 to 80% in 15 minutes.

And it also promised to go about 30 to 80% of battery top up for only 10 minutes, which the latest video goes on to prove.
