Google Mistakenly Sends $250,000 to Bored Ape Engineer

Sure, most of us would admit that we make terrible mistakes from time to time. However, this time around, it looks like Google made a costly blunder.

As per the latest news by Entrepreneur, a security engineer disclosed online that he surprisingly received roughly $250,000 in his bank account.

Sam Curry, an engineer for the Bored Ape Yacht Club maker, Yuga Labs, found out that the payment was from none other than the giant tech firm, Google.

It turns out that the Bored Ape engineer used to be a bug bounty hunter for Google.

So at first, he wondered if the handsome payment in his bank account was some payout for a job he did in the past. However, it did not take long before it dawned on him that the $250,000 was not for him.

So when Curry received the random payment from the tech behemoth, he tried to reach out to Google to inform them about the mistake.

According to a report by Futurism's The Byte, the engineer filed a request for Google customer support upon realizing that the hefty payment was pretty much an accident.

But he never heard from the tech giant again since he received the money. Given that, the Yuga Labs engineer did what most people do these days - post it on social media.

Bored Ape Engineer Shares Google's Random Payment on Twitter

Curry took to Twitter to share his experience. He tweeted that "it's been a little over three weeks since Google randomly sent me $249,999."

The engineer further notes that he has yet to get a response on his support ticket since the payment a few weeks ago. He then mentioned the official Twitter account of Google, asking how to keep in touch with them.

Curry concludes the tweet in a jest, stating that "it's OK if you don't want it back."
