HOUSTON, TEXAS - MAY 11: A passenger looks at his phone while waiting aboard a United Airlines plane before taking off from George Bush Intercontinental Airport on May 11, 2020 in Houston, Texas. Air travel is down as estimated 94 percent due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and major U.S. airlines are taking a major financial hit with losses of $350 million to $400 million a day and nearly half of major carriers airplanes are sitting idle.

As per United Vice President of Digital Technology Grant Milstead, staying connected in the air is necessary whether it's business or leisure. Through this partnership, it will be achieved.

Coverage Beyond Campaign

The expansion of T-Mobile with United Airlines will now be added to the Coverage Beyond campaign, joining American, Alaska, and Delta airlines allowing customers to text, email, search, and stream during flights.

As per the company's website, this campaign will launch on United's 737, MAX8s, MAX9s, selected 757-300s, and selected A319s. T-Mobile collaborates with Viasat and Thales InFlyt Experience as they plan to add this campaign to more flights soon.

Chief Executive Officer of T-Mobile stated that customers can now be connected to hundreds of flights. He added, "This latest expansion of Coverage Beyond is all part of our goal to keep customers connected even outside the signal of our network, and we're on a nonstop mission to find new ways to make that happen."
