LARKSPUR, CALIFORNIA - AUGUST 05: Roomba robot vacuums made by iRobot are displayed on a shelf at a Bed Bath and Beyond store on August 05, 2022 in Larkspur, California. Amazon announced plans to purchase iRobot, maker of the popular robotic vacuum Roomba, for an estimated $1.7 billion.

iRobot's New Roomba Combo j7+ with Automatic Mop

According to a recent report by Tech Radar, the latest combo cleaner of iRobot flaunts a new mop design, which requires less micromanaging from its users.

iRobot says that the new Roomba Combo j7+ features "seamless switching." And thanks to this, it no longer needs humans to intervene when the cleaning robots are going over rugs or carpets while using its mop.

How the New Automatic Mop Works

Tech Radar notes in its report that the new automatic mop helps prevent incidents where the carpets have become wet as the robot could not automatically remove its mop.

The new Combo j7+ could lift the mop once it moves over to the softer materials like rugs. And as such, its users would no longer have to manually lift it.

iRobot’s new Roomba Combo j7+ rocks an automatic mop. Here’s how it works:

Once the vacuum robot escapes the carpet or rug it brings down the mop again to clean the hard floors. But when it approaches another soft surface, it would automatically lift it beforehand.

Besides the automatic mop, the new cleaning robot offers simultaneous mopping and vacuuming. Doing so is essentially more efficient and time-saving as it does two jobs at once.

As per a report by Engadget, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder of iRobot, Colin Angle, touts the new Roomba Combo j7+ as the "first legitimate 2-in-1 vacuuming and mopping robot."

But despite the massive upgrade, the news outlet notes that the new combo cleaner is still the same size as the standard j7.

How Much is the Roomba Combo j7+

The pre-orders for the all-new Roomba Combo j7+ start at $1,099 in the United States, Engadget reports.

In the United Kingdom, the price of the first-ever vacuum and mop robot retails for £999. However, it is worth noting that the pricing only starts at £799 for those who would not bother to have the Clean Base.
