Electronic Arts' "FIFA 23" is its latest football simulation video game. It is the 30th and final installment in EA Sports' FIFA series, and it was released globally last Sept. 30 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia.

Despite being live days before its official release and players complaining of unreasonable player ratings, reports tell us that "FIFA 23" is now gaining ground in terms of most gaming charts. The game has been available for a couple of weeks, but it has already rout one of Nintendo's biggest titles of the year, "Splatoon 3."

'FIFA 23' Tops UK Charts

As reported by Nintendo Life, after a brief delay, the latest UK boxed chart data indicates that EA's "FIFA 23" has taken the top spot. After several weeks at number one, "Splatoon 3" was knocked down a notch by the football video game.

Based on the report, FIFA's first-place position cannot be credited to the Switch. The Nintendo console accounts for only 6% of FIFA 23's total sales. Meanwhile, the PS5 garnered 41% of its sales, the PS4 had 30%, and the Xbox One had 17%. This is not surprising given that the Switch received few updates with the game's Legacy Edition.

Other popular games were still present in the UK charts, and this week, "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe," "Nintendo Switch Sports," "Minecraft," "Animal Crossing: New Horizons," and "Pokémon Legends: Arceus" all saw strong sales figures.

In the meantime, "Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga" has held steady at third place. After a couple of weeks at the bottom of the chart and off it entirely, the game has jumped back into third place.

More About 'FIFA 23'

On Aug. 30, Xbox fans discovered a bug that allowed them to play "FIFA 23" even though it had not yet been released to the public. The game was quickly picked up by Xbox Series S and X players despite being released a month early.

The unexpected leak even made its main platform, Ultimate Team, available. This online game mode allows players to create their dream football squads and compete against other FIFA 23 players online.

According to Dot Esports, this glitch has already resulted in numerous leaks, including the ratings of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain players.

Nintendo Life also reports that the most recent uniforms, teams, and clubs from some of the world's top football leagues are included in FIFA 23 Legacy Edition. Top women's club teams will also be added, along with some of the most renowned stadiums in the world, some of which are brand-new, with updated graphic identity and an improved broadcast overlay package.

Following GameInformer, EA's HyperMotion2 technology enables more realistic animations between shooting and dribbling, but even during replays, that is hardly noticeable. The majority of goals and celebrations resemble those from FIFA 22.
