The iPhone SE only had one major redesign to its looks, and it is from 1st generation to the 2nd generation that transitioned from the iPhone 5S to the iPhone 8's design. However, new claims and leaks focus on its redesign for the 4th generation, now allegedly featuring a 5.7 to a 6.1-inch display with the famed notch without the home button.

However, rumors also claimed that it will focus on the Touch ID feature with the power button, and still missing the Face ID for its security authentication.

According to Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young (via MacRumors), the new iPhone SE 4, or the fourth generation of the budget smartphone, will feature a new design scheme for its 2024 release. It is widely known that the SE skips a year before it releases another device, evident from 2020's 2nd-gen and 2022's third-gen.

Young's claim last 2021 will be what would take place within Apple, with the new SE 4 featuring a 5.7 to 6.1 inches screen, the same as the base variants of the iPhone 11 to 14.

And instead of the home button staying on the screen, it will move to the same look as the regular lineup from Apple where users have to swipe to go to the home screen. It will feature what the iPhone X started, with the notch hanging above the display.

No Face ID, Still Touch ID for Security

Still, Young's speculation focus on the device not having any Face ID or its TrueDepth camera on the notch to save money, skimping on the feature to retain its budget smartphone status. It will feature a Touch ID button infused with the power button, commonly found on most Samsung and other Android devices.

Apple's iPhone SE Development

The iPhone SE is currently on its third-generation release, and its latest was the 2022 release of the 5G device that incorporates the new cellular network for the famed budget smartphone from Apple. It still features the same glass body from the iPhone 8, a single camera for the rear, its haptic home button feature, and the A15 Bionic chip.

It features the same design as the smartphone from the iPhone SE's 2nd generation, but the previous one not having any 5G connectivity features for its access released in 2020.

The SE did not change much from its releases, being repurposed devices from Apple that feature new chips and better technology, but not necessarily a new look from the Cupertino company. Still, it presented a new look from the first-generation smartphone, previously featuring the iPhone 5S's design with the square body.

After two succeeding releases of the same design for the iPhone SE, it seems like Apple is finally focusing on a new look for the budget smartphone, now embodying its present design. Despite speculation for its change to the notch design, there would still be no Face IDs for the SE, rather its focus on the Touch ID for its home button.
