OxygenOS 13 Open Beta 2 for OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8T models have been published in India. It marks a significant change in the smartphone company's approach to software updates.

In particular, OnePlus intended to release two significant software upgrades for the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro, based on a report by Android Central.

Significant Updates on Display

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer made the announcement in a forum thread called OnePlus Community. The newest update, which is also arriving for the OnePlus 10R, is focused on enhancing the user interface.

It has new colors, symbols, elements, and motions as part of the Aquamorphic Design.

Improvements to Always-on Display, a redesigned Sidebar Toolbox, enhanced performance, media playback controls in Quick Settings, and heightened security are all included in the update.

Those who have participated in the beta program for the OnePlus 8 series or the OnePlus 10R should also get access to additional Always-On Display animations and Omoji for creating unique emoji characters.

The Lock screen charging animation and Screen-off gestures in the Settings menu have both been updated by OnePlus to address previous concerns. The beta update adds huge folders to the Home screen, allowing you to launch applications inside a consolidated space with a single press.

Added Productivity and Security Tools

The Meeting Assistant function has also been introduced to OnePlus to easily take note of meeting agendas. The tech firm has included more markup tools for altering screenshots and the ability to scribble on images in order to record notes.

The update also brings a new Kid Space where parents can regulate their children's screen time, warn them of the dangers of blue light, and activate other safeguards for their eyes.

Moreover, the latest release contains the Android security patch for October 2022 and many other improvements to safety and privacy.

Reported Issues and Update Requirements

However, there are a few documented flaws in the updated system. A black screen that appears while activating the camera in the conversation of Messenger is an issue. There is also an odd display of the charging prompt on the lock screen and an unexpected display of the timing function of the life mode.

The OnePlus 10 Pro and other high-end OnePlus Android devices started receiving the stable release of OxygenOS 13 in September.

To download the update, OnePlus recommends that your phone has at least 30% battery life and at least 5.5GB of free space. In addition, you will need to be on the most recent version of OxygenOS 12 (C.35/36) on your device.

Another Newly Released OS Update

Elsewhere, reports said that Google has been distributing the Android 13 upgrade for some time. It has been many months since the tech giant released its updated version for Pixel phones back in August.

Even while some phone makers, like OnePlus, have yet to provide the Android 13 update to all of their compatible handsets, T-Mobile has already announced which phones will be updated.

Reportedly, the OnePlus 9, 8T+, and 7T will all get Android 13 updates in the near future.
