SAN FRANCISCO, CA - JUNE 02: Attendees gather at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference at the Moscone West center on June 2, 2014 in San Francisco, California. Apple CEO Tim Cook kicked off the annual WWDC which is typically a showcase for upcoming updates to Apple hardware and software. The conference runs through June 6.

New "Custom Accessibility Mode"

Apple released to developers the second beta for iOS 16.2, which will be released to the public this upcoming December. Alongside the new updates, the company works on a new "Custom Accessibility Mode." The Verge reported that through this updated mode, it will be providing iPhone (and even iPad) users a more 'streamlined' experience.

As per the report, users will now be able to customize the settings such as personalized UI and text size, chosen applications on the home screen, preferred contacts, and access to hardware buttons when the mode is enabled. There will also be larger app icons, a big back button, and a much more simple system in the Messages.

Despite this mode being released in the beta for the upcoming iOS in December, 9To5Mac clarified that the release of the Custom Accessibility Mode feature remains whether it will be available to iOS 16.2 or future versions. Apple also did not confirm and respond to the publication's request to comment regarding the release.

iOS 16.2 Beta

Registered developers already have access to the iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 beta. Aside from the new Custom Accessibility Mode, the Freeform application will also be included. This app helps users to jot down notes, sketch, draw, brainstorm ideas, mood boards creation, and more productive things that a user can think. Freeform will also let users work together as multiple people can work on the same board within the application that syncs changes in real-time to all of the participants.

A new Home app architecture is included in the beta, which MacRumors reported will bring faster and more reliable performance for the users' smart home accessories. The new system will be requiring developers to the HomePod 16.2 beta for this to be enabled.

After releasing iOS 16.1, iPadOS 16.1, macOS Ventura, and other system updates on October 24, several reports have laid out possible dates for the next upgrades from the company. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg stated that the upgrades for iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 will be released in December. But this was not confirmed if the news was supplied to Gurman by Apple or was just an estimate based on past releases of Apple.

iOS 15 and iPad OS 15.2 were both released in December last year. Meanwhile, iOS 16.3 will be possibly released in February 2023, as Apple Insider reported.
