Google recently announced that the new Nest Wi-Fi Pro would get a software update early next week to improve the connection speeds for certain customers who are experiencing slow internet.

Google Nest Wi-Fi Product Lead Sanjay Noronha told The Verge that the firm was currently examining complaints of some consumers experiencing lower internet speeds on Nest Wi-Fi Pro routers and that their teams are working to put out a remedy.

The Complaints

Weeks after Google's Nest Wi-Fi Pro went on sale, complaints regarding limited download and upload speeds of 40 Mbps to 90 Mbps quickly started appearing on the Google Nest community site.

According to 9to5Google's first report, several customers have said that their older Nest Wi-Fi Pro, which is limited to Wi-Fi 5, has become more reliable.

Nonetheless, not all customers experiencing problems are using brand-new routers.

Based on Google's findings, the majority of those affected are located in the United Kingdom and utilize point-to-point protocol over ethernet (PPPoE) networks. Many DSL service providers utilize this system, which requires users to enter a login and password into their router before they can access the internet.

On the other hand, comments on the site suggest that customers in the US and other regions of Europe, as well as those using fiber, are experiencing the same problem.

Google did not disclose what caused the slower speeds, but they hope a forthcoming software update will fix it.

Nest Wi-Fi Pro Overview

This past month, Google released its new $199 Nest Wi-Fi Pro mesh router. It boasts compatibility with the faster Wi-Fi 6E, which is meant to offer speeds of up to 5.4Gbps, given that your internet plan supports the said figures. It has the capacity to link 100 devices at once across a network for a total of 300.

The Wi-Fi Pro, like the rest of Google's mesh Wi-Fi systems, is set up and managed via the company's Home app. This app is where you will do things like configure the family management system to restrict what your children's devices can access online or even disable Wi-Fi for them.

The device also has several intelligent features, said The Verge. Google claims that the Nest Wi-Fi Pro will automatically optimize the bands it utilizes depending on the network congestion, prioritizing high-bandwidth traffic like streaming and video conversations. It frees up a 6GHz band that helps mitigate network congestion.

Even if your internet service provider messes up and slows down your connection, the system should be able to adapt the network performance to minimize disruptions.

The company states every router can cover 2,200 square feet or 6,600 with a three-pack. At $199 for a single router, it is also competitively priced. The Verge emphasized that the Eero's Pro 6E retails for a regular price of $299.

The Nest Wi-Fi Pro two-pack costs $299.99, the same as TP-Wi-Fi Link's 6E-equipped Deco XE75 system. Three-pack Nest Wi-Fi Pros cost around $400.
