Nvidia finally addresses the reported issues on its GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card and finds this solution.
Recently, a lawsuit has been filed against tech giant Nvidia due to the melting issues reported by users with the power plugs for its GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card.

The RTX 4090 was introduced by Nvidia in October with a suggested retail price of $1,499. According to The Register, the high-end GPU debuted the new 12VHPWR power connector, which features a 12-volt high-power to maintain sufficient energy levels due to the 450 watts needed for typical power usage and 600 watts for overclocking. Four additional "sensing" pins track the card's wattage while the remaining 12 pins of the cable power the card.
Since the GeForce RTX 4090 was released, Nvidia has received several complaints regarding the 12VHPWR connector, which is designed to provide sufficient power and is included free of charge with the unit.

Nvidia Gives Insight Into Melting Power Cable Issue
According to a recent statement by Nvidia, their findings suggest that the reason for the melting power cords may be due to this issue.
"Our findings to date suggest that a common issue is that connectors are not fully plugged into the graphics card," Nvidia stated. "To help ensure the connector is secure we recommend plugging the power dongle into the graphics card first to ensure it's firmly and evenly plugged in, before plugging the graphics card into the motherboard."
Nvidia, however, stated that it is still looking into the complaints but that its current findings point to the loose connector as the most common problem to the melting power cables.
Nvidia Lawsuit Over Melting Power Cables
According to Tom's Hardware, Nvidia customer Lucas Genova filed a class action lawsuit against Nvidia regarding his complaint on the meltdown of the 16-pin power adaptor. According to the complaint, Genova is suing Nvidia for unjust enrichment, breach of warranty, fraud, and violations of New York's General Business Law.
Genova appears to be bringing the class action lawsuit on behalf of himself and all buyers of the GeForce RTX 4090, one of the best graphics cards on the market, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed on Nov. 11 in the California federal court.
Nvidia Customer Support on GeForce RTX 4090 Issues and Complaints
In a statement released to PCWorld, a company spokesman for Nvidia stated that they are working towards resolving all complaints regarding the graphics card.
"NVIDIA and our partners are committed to supporting our customers, regardless of the cable or power supply used," an Nvidia spokesman said. "Anybody who has an issue [relating to this] will be taken care of."
According to board partners, 125,000 GeForce RTX 4090 cards have been shipped. Thus, PC World estimates that the known failure rate of the melting power cables is currently at 0.04% since 50 complaints have been filed.
