Google Stadia Pro subscribers are saying they received refunds even if the renowned tech giant says they are not eligible to get their money back.

However, it appears that the refund for the Stadia Pro subscription is merely an error. But does this mean that its users are giving back their refunds?

Google Stadia Pro Accidental Refunds

As per a recent report by 9to5 Google, some Stadia Pro players got their hands on refunds, but it turns out to be an accident.

It is worth noting that Google is now rolling out refunds for Stadia purchases as it closes down by next year. The tech giant is giving the money of its users back for purchases of in-game items, expansions, and devices.

However, the tech firm says the Stadia Pro subscription is not part of the refunds.

But despite that, its subscribers suddenly received a refund even though Google says otherwise. Interestingly, most of the users that started getting their money back are from the United Kingdom.

Some users got a few months of their subscription fee back. These players shared screenshots of Google returning their ₤8.99 payments.

It turns out that the Stadia Pro refund is merely an error. According to a news story by Gizmodo, the Google support page clearly states that the Pro subscriptions are not eligible for refunds.

"Stadia will attempt to automatically process refunds for all purchases of games, add-on content, and subscriptions fees other than Stadia Pro made through the Stadia Store," the support page says.

Could Stadia Pro Players Keep Their Refunds?

Given that the refund is an accident, some users are wondering whether Google would ask for it back.

Gizmodo highlights in its report that despite the error, users could keep the refunds. So it appears the renowned tech giant would no longer ask for the money they accidentally gave their subscribers.

9to5 Google also confirmed that the tech firm would no longer ask its users to give back the refunds.

However, it is worth mentioning that only a few Pro subscribers got their hands on the refunds.

So it means that most Pro players have to accept that they can no longer get their money back even if the cloud gaming service is closing down in January 2023.

For now, Stadia users have a few more weeks to enjoy the cloud gaming service of Google. By Jan. 18, 2023, the tech giant is shutting down the service, preventing players from enjoying it.
