People view the Porsche 718 Cayman Style Edition on display at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show in Los Angeles, California on November 17, 2022.

It is known that the current generation of 718 was introduced in 2016, and the company is set to release the next generation in 2025. And with their plans, it seemed that the automaker plans to make their next-gen line of vehicles all-electric.

However, in 2019, Oliver Blume, the CEO of Porsche, expressed his concerns about making a smaller sports car, but after years, the company finally decided that the next generation of vehicles would come as all-electric versions.

The Prototype

The prototype features an electric powertrain with a test mule body and an exhaust pipe. However, the sound of the vehicle gives it away because it doesn't seem like it's battery-powered. However, none can be said so much about the design that seems like a test mule.

Porsche is just part of the automobile companies that are shifting their focus to electric vehicles. The automaker's efforts are so great that their first EV release is a sports car rather than a sedated SUV or a family car. As a sports car lover, I'm excited to see what Porsche has in store for us.

The Rise of Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles are slowly becoming a hit. The reason is because of the rising oil prices and the increasing number of air pollutants.

As the norm in the automobile industry, nothing can be said for sure until the car is officially released. However, from the looks of it, it is anticipated that the Porsche all-electric sports car will be released sooner than later. And if it does, it will be the first electric sports car for the German automaker.

The competition for EVs is also increasing, and with the growing market, it seems that EVs will be the next thing that everyone will be looking forward to. And with the new models, they will also be able to help the environment, prevent pollution, and save the lives of people related to the car industry.

In line with Porsche's vision to green the car industry, the automaker will be releasing a line of electric vehicles in their next-generation vehicles. And from the looks of the prototype, their efforts will surely bring the company closer to its vision in the near future.

If what Porsche said is true and by 2025, the company will be producing all-electric cars, then we might just see the new Boxster earlier or later than what we expect. It seems like the company is seriously going green, and they are aiming to destroy the oil industry by selling electric vehicles instead of the usual fossil.
