This is quite unusual since the giant EV maker announced that it wants its electric car connector to become the new standard in North America.

Recently, Tesla confirmed that it is opening its EV charge connector to other zero-emission car models so that it can become the new North American Charging Standard (NACS).

This move is to challenge the existing CCS (Combined Charging System). If this is the case, why is Tesla selling its charger connectors at Best Buy?

Berlin, along with most of Germany's large cities, is seeking to vigorously expand its number of public electric car charging stations both to meet growing demand and to meet environmental goals.

These are the black Tesla J1772 wall connector (a 24ft EV charger with 48A hardwired) and the white Tesla wall connector (a 24ft EV charger with 48A hardwired).

If you visit the official Best Buy website, you will see that the J1772 connector costs $550. Meanwhile, the normal wall connector only costs $400.

The giant EV maker hasn't confirmed why it is selling its EV charger connectors via Best Buy.

But, some enthusiasts believe that this activity of Tesla shows that it is not really interested in owning the overall distribution of the charging stations across the globe.

Tesla NACS Proposal Gets CharIN's Response

Teslarati reported that Tesla's proposal of making its charging connectors the new NACS received a response from the Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN).

However, the response of CharIN is not really a positive one.

The agency explained that if the North American Charging Standard proposal of Tesla is accepted, it could lead to consumer confusion and EV adoption delays.

"After a decade of collaborative work, the domestic and international EV industry has aligned around CCS," said CharIN to Tesla.

While Tesla is still pushing its NACS proposal, it is also busy with its other business activities.

You can visit this link to see more details about CharIN's response to Tesla's NCAS proposal.

These include the additional 10 Tesla Supercharger locations across the globe.

Previously, the Tesla Supercharger's price dropped in different regions.
