Apple AirPods Cleaning Kit from Belkin

The latest news story by 9to5 Mac reports that Belkin introduced its AirPods Cleaning Kit, which has pretty intriguing claims. The accessory maker touts that it can get rid of stubborn earwax on your wireless earbuds.

But on top of that, Belkin says that the cleaning kit can also improve the audio quality of your AirPods. It claims that it "restores driver mesh for maximum acoustic performance."

If the claim is to be believed, if you think that the sound quality of your AirPods has worsened over time, this might be the solution you are looking for.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - SEPTEMBER 07: Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller announces AirPods during a launch event on September 7, 2016 in San Francisco, California. Apple Inc. is expected to unveil latest iterations of its smart phone, forecasted to be the iPhone 7. The tech giant is also rumored to be planning to announce an update to its Apple Watch wearable device.

Apart from improving the overall sound, it makes your earbuds more hygienic by removing disgusting earwax.

The accessory maker says "our Cleaning Kit for AirPods safely removes earwax buildup without damaging your headphones."

The kit includes a microfiber cloth, cleaning gel, brush, and earwax softener. It retails for nearly $15 or $14.99, to be more exact.

Is it Compatible with AirPods Pro?

Interestingly, Belkin notes that its new cleaning kit only works with the standard AirPods, spanning from all three generations. On the other hand, it is incompatible with AirPods Pro models.

So while it says that it will not damage your AirPods, the same could not be said for the AirPods Pro. It also remains to be seen if it could remove earwax buildup on the higher-end offering, as well as improve their audio.

Given that, it is best to only use it for non-Pro AirPods to be safe.

How to Clean Your AirPods Pro

But if you are still planning to clean your AirPods Pro, this guide from Apple might work for you.

And instead of spending nearly $15, you'll only need a "soft, dry, lint-free cloth." But if there is staining, you might also need a cloth dampened with fresh water.

Start by wiping your AirPods Pro with a dry cloth.

But if there are some stains, it is best to clean it first with a slightly dampened cloth before drying it with another lint-free cloth.

Apple tells users to completely dry them before placing them on their charging case or attempting to use them.
