As the holidays get closer, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models remain in shortage as an Apple analyst notes that the situation might not improve anytime soon. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the situation won't improve soon.

iPhone Dropped in Q3 of 2022 but Supply Might Not be Fixed in Time for the Holiday Period

According to the story by Giz China, as the holidays are around the corner, this is a time when many companies earn massive amounts from holiday shopping. During this period, many companies tend to sell many products, and Apple is not an exception to this.

When the iPhone dropped in Q3 of this year, Apple usually reaches the peak of its sale during the Holiday Period. The article notes that this year could be different for Apple and be problematic for the iPhone 14 series.

iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max Supply Won't Recover Anytime Soon per Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo

The reason for this is not that customers aren't interested or the iPhone is bad but that there is a lack of supply for the iPhone 14 series. As per an article by GSM Arena, buyers might be disappointed if they try to purchase the smartphone as a gift.

Apple has constantly been facing shortages of the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max units, and as per analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the situation won't improve anytime soon. The company is reportedly facing a major shortage just a few weeks before the holidays.

Apple is Expected to Ship Between 70 to 75 Million iPhone 14 Pro Series, Less than Optimistic Forecasts

The brand is expected to ship between 70 million to 75 million iPhone 14 Pro series, which is 15 to 20 million short of Apple's initial optimistic forecasts. This is much larger compared to Bloomberg's initial six million unit shortage.

The shortage comes as China experienced a recent COVID outbreak, forcing factories to shut down. This resulted in a massive wave of labor protests at Foxconn's factory, one of Apple's manufacturers of the iPhones.

Pegatron and Luxshare ICT are Expected to Pick Up 10% of Orders for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro

Kuo announced that Pegatron and Luxshare ICT are expected to pick up around 10% of the orders for the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro. This could result in at least some part of the shortage recovering, but the effects will still be felt later on by December.

Due to the shortage, Apple expects the impact to affect not just customers but also the company itself. As a result, the company is expected to see lower revenue for the fourth quarter of this year.

Apple Stores in the US might see the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max out of stock with expectations of the order to remain unfulfilled until December 29. Aside from the shortage, Apple still has to deal with different economic constraints.
