Warner Bros. Discovery and Amazon Studios

During a keynote session at the C21Media's Content London annual event, Warner Bros. Television Studios Chairwoman Channing Dungey stated that the company will be collaborating with Amazon Studios for an animation project based on DC Comics.

The Verge reported that this is one of the company's moves on changing its traditional strategies as the leadership changes under Chief Executive Officer David Zaslav. She stated that Zaslav has been very open to collaborating with outside production outfits.

Dungey also compared the previous leadership that felt like everything has to stay in-house. Through the CEO's vision, he's been far keener on the idea of working with other people outside his management. "David Zaslav has been much more open to exploring all of our animated IP and being able to do it on different platforms," she stated.

As the production explores different platforms, HBO Max will be Warner Bros Television Studios' first stop, and will be followed by the DC branded content in animation with the help of Amazon.

While she did not elaborate further information regarding the collaboration, Zazlav made it clear earlier this month that he really wants to double down on existing franchises, which he named-dropped several titles like Superman, Batman, and Harry Potter.

Harry Potter Scripted Show

Dungey added that several talks have been debated regarding the Harry Potter franchise. She said when asked about whether there will be a new scripted Harry Potter show, "I wish I could tell you that something was imminent on the horizon but there is a lot of interest and a lot of passion for it, so absolutely."

She commended the team behind the unscripted show Returm to Hogwarts, an HBO special last year, that was also heavily supported by many. Which is not surprising as is followed by a quiz show, The Tournament Houses hosted by Helen Mirren.
