Atlus's Persona 5 Royal Remastered hits its biggest sales milestone following its recent launch on several gaming platforms.

Persona 5 was first released in 2016 as an exclusive for the PS3 and PS4. However, three years after, Atlus launched Persona 5 Royal, which is a remastered version of the game as a PS4-exclusive title.

This year, a third version of the game, Persona 5 Royal Remastered, made its multi-platform premiere to overwhelmingly positive reviews, making it the most popular Persona game to date, according to Game Rant.

Persona 5 Royal Remastered Hits Big Sales Milestone

Atlus reveals that Persona 5 Royal Remastered surpassed one million sales after only over a month since its release.

Dualshockers reports that the total sales of Persona 5 Royal Remastered on PlayStation consoles, specifically on PS4 and PS5, have reached a whopping 3.3 million units worldwide as of the end of November 2022.

Additionally, the whole Persona 5 series, which includes game titles Persona 5, Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Strikers, and Persona 5 Dancing In Starlight, have collectively sold 8.3 million units worldwide. However, Persona 5 alone has sold half of the entire series sold in its lifetime, which has now exceeded 16.8 million units sold in both Japan and overseas.

In celebration of the sales milestone, Atlus released a feature video trailer showcasing selected reviews of Persona 5 Royal on their official Youtube.

Persona 5 Royal Remastered's Multi-Platform Launch

Three years after Persona 5's PS4 exclusive release, Persona 5 Royal was re-released this year on Oct. 21 on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Nintendo Life attributes Persona 5's big success and popularity with players to the diversity of new platforms available to the game. In addition to the multi-platform availability, the game now features several graphics options and support for 120 FPS for PC users in the remastered version.

Notably, the game's predecessor, Persona 4 Golden, has lower sales in comparison to the Persona 5 series. However, this may be due to limited platform options, as Persona 4 is only available to play on PC.

Persona 5 vs. Persona 5 Royal Remastered Differences

With the exception of the new opening song, Persona 5: Royal gamers shouldn't anticipate too many changes during the game's first hour. However, once Morgana enters the picture early in the game, changes in the game will start to become more apparent.

However, the most significant change in Persona 5 Royal Remastered is the addition of the newest female member of the Phantom Thieves, Kasumi Yoshizawa.

According to GameSpot, Kasumi will have a significant impact on the game and give players a fresh experience with her specialized cutscenes and social gatherings. Additionally, Persona 5 Royal Remastered features improved dialogue animations, added cutscenes, new locations, game modes, and more.
