Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tim Cook, has confirmed that the tech giant plans to use the TSMC chips made in Arizona.

The confirmation from the big boss of Apple comes shortly after its massive supplier, TSMC, announced its increased investment in Arizona.

With that, it might not take long before these made-in-Arizona TSMC chips start reaching devices of Apple. It might see the light of day in the future generations of Macs, iPads, and iPhones.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Confirms Plans to Use Arizona-Made TSMC Chips

As per the latest news story by Apple Insider, Cook assured last November that the Cupertino-based tech giant is looking to source its chips from the Arizona plant of TSMC. It is even though the plant of the chip maker in the said state has yet to be completed.

This time, Cook went on to confirm the plan of the iPhone maker to use Arizona-made TSMC chips.

The chief executive of the renowned tech firm dubbed the TSMC Arizona plant as "an incredibly significant moment."

The CEO says that "today is only the beginning." Cook continued saying, "Today we're combining TSMC's expertise with the unrivaled ingenuity of American workers."

The Apple boss states "we are investing in a stronger, brighter future." He adds that "we are planting our seed in the Arizona desert.

On top of that, the tech exec offered that Apple is "proud to help nurture its growth."

Apple Insider notes in its report that the Arizona plant of the chipmaker is dedicating around one-third of its capacity to the iPhone maker once it opens.

The first-ever plant of TSMC in the state is expected to open its doors sometime in 2024, according to a recent report by CNBC.

But that's not all. The chipmaker announced that it aims to open its second facility by 2026.

TSMC Arizona Investments Expands: Second Semiconductor Chip Plan

The renowned chipmaker announced that its second plant in Arizona is set to work on 3-nanometer chips, which is currently the best chip available out there. Meanwhile, the first plant specifically produces 4-nanometer chips.

The United States President Joe Biden joined the founder of TSMC as the chip maker expands in investments in Arizona. The Apple supplier revealed that it is increasing its investment to a cool $40 billion.
