These robots are being used for different purposes, such as EV manufacturing, defense enhancements, goods deliveries, etc.

However, William Melek, the director of the RoboHub at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, claimed that the food supply chain is the most exciting new application area of robotics.

These can all be seen in the food supply chain. William further shared that labor shortages constrain production capacities in this area.

Machines are now becoming the new norm in the food industry. Ever since the pandemic began, many people have noticed that many groceries are using robots.

For example, Loblaw Co., Empire Co., and other distribution centers increased their robot workers to deliver and sort out shipments from one warehouse to another.

Will Robots Replace Humans?

One of the main reasons why the use of advanced robots is increasing in the food supply chain is because of the repetitive activities in this industry.

Autonomous machines are being developed to do extreme activities that could harm human workers.

Does this mean that machines will replace people?

Forbes reported that the answer to this question is divided.

A recent survey conducted by Pew Research revealed that 48% of experts are concerned that machines will replace white-collar and blue-collar workers.

The remaining 52% believe that artificial intelligence and robotics will create new jobs for humans.
