But what does the new firmware update bring? And is there any way to manually install it?

Apple AirTag Firmware Update Releases

As per the latest news story by Mac Rumors, the iPhone maker has already dished out the latest firmware update for the AirTag. The latest release carries the build number 2A36, which sports a close version number of 2.0.36.

The previous AirTage firmware release comes with the 2A24e build number. So if you still have the said version, you are still using the previous update.

But given that Apple is now rolling out the new firmware release, it should not take long before your AirTag receives it. Do note that it might take a few days or a week before you can get your hands on it. Most software releases roll out gradually before reaching everyone else.

According to a recent report by 9to5 Mac, the last AirTag update was back in November. Over a month since the previous version rolled out, a new release is on its way to its users.

It is worth mentioning that Apple uses firmware updates to dish out new features, bug fixes, and security patches. In fact, the renowned tech giant improved its tune, which warns users of potentially unwanted tracking, using a firmware update early this year.

Previous firmware releases went on to bring a couple of refinements that helped smoothen the overall experience.

But how about the latest update, what does it bring to the table?

Here's What's New

9to5 Mac notes in its report that the iPhone maker has yet to publish the release notes for the latest AirTag firmware update.

But it is not entirely surprising. Apple tends to skip providing release notes for firmware updates for its devices like the AirTag and AirPods.

Given that, it is hard to tell what the new update offers the users of the item-tracking device. Well, unless Apple publicly mentions it or some leaker provides us the details.

Instead, the best thing users could do is to check if the update has already reached them. Here's how to do so.
