Netflix's plan with advertisements sure makes the subscription service cheaper. However, it comes with a couple of compromises.

Not only does it lower the video quality, but the Basic Plan with Ads also misses out on multiple movies and series. Some of them are sought-after titles, including the hit show Peaky Blinders.

Netflix's Cheaper Plan with Ads Skips Some Movies, Shows

According to a report by CNET, Netflix recently introduced its Basic with Ads tier, allowing users to subscribe for only $7.

As the name highly suggests, this cheaper option comes with commercials, much like watching TV or YouTube for free.

For more affordable pricing, Netflix only offers up to 720p video quality for all shows and movies under its ad-supported tier. On top of that, this plan prevents users from downloading content on the go, which makes sense as ads rely on the internet.

And the ad-supported tier also trims down the library of Netflix. Hundreds of movies and shows are currently unavailable on its cheapest tier.

On the other hand, the $10 Basic plan also limits the video quality to HD or up to 720p. But it allows users to download content. Its subscribers also get their hands on the full catalog or the giant streamer, depending on what's available in your location.

So by spending $3 more every month, you can access the full catalog of Netflix again. Not to mention that there are no ads on the Basic plan.

Hundreds of Movies and Shows are Missing

According to a recent report by Business Insider, Netflix says that its ad-supported tier still comes with "almost all [their] TV and movies."

To be more precise, the data of Reelgood reveals that Basic with Ads is missing out on around 245 movies and roughly 118 TV shows, at least in the US. So it remains to be seen if other locations have fewer shows and movies.

But why is the new ad-supported tier missing out on hundreds of content? The giant streamer explained to Insider that some titles have issues with licensing restrictions.

However, Netflix assured that it is already working to increase the number of titles available to its ad-supported tier. The spokesperson of the streaming service disclosed that they are already gearing up to make these titles available.

Despite that, the Basic with Ads plan still has a massive library of movies and shows. Users can choose from its library of films, which spans up to 3,768. There are also 2,224 shows.

Some of the missing TV shows include hit series like Peaky Blinders and The Walking Dead. The Last Kingdom is also unavailable.

Meanwhile, blockbuster movies like Uncharted, Bullet Train, and Where the Crawdads Sing also skips the ad tier, Business Insider notes in their story.
