While rumors about the fourth-generation iPhone SE sprouted like mushrooms this year, it might not see the light of day soon.

Apple iPhone SE 4 Might Be Canceled or Delayed Until 2024

As per the latest report by Mac Rumors, analyst Kuo is now saying that Apple is looking to cancel or postpone the iPhone SE 4 production.

The well-known analyst is giving two possible routes for the next-generation budget iPhone.

It might be completely canceled, or the tech giant could potentially delay its release until 2024. With the latter, Apple could skip releasing a non-flagship iPhone next year or in 2023.

Rumor has it that the upcoming iPhone SE 4 is looking to stay away from the dated design of its predecessor that we last saw in the iPhone 8 series. Instead,

Apple is reportedly working on a budget phone that sports a full-screen look, similar to the iPhone X series. But with the latest predictions from Kuo, this might not get the shimmer of the spotlight anytime soon.

Kuo says in his recent tweet that "Apple will likely cancel or postpone the mass production plan for the 2024 iPhone SE 4.

Why is Apple Scrapping Upcoming iPhone SE 4

The Apple analyst further gave his two cents regarding the possible cancellation or delay of the upcoming iPhone SE 4.

He tweeted that it might be due to the dismal sales of the "mid-to-low-end iPhones," including the current-generation iPhone SE, the iPhone 13 mini, which is the last small-sized Apple flagship, and the all-new iPhone 14 Plus.

On top of that, Kuo also suggested that its cancellation or delay might be greatly affected by the higher cost of producing a full-screen design for the budget device. Not to mention that the modern look could potentially raise the starting price of the future SE model.

According to a recent report by 9to5 Mac, the current cheapest iPhone model, which is still available with a seamless full-screen look, is the iPhone 12. However, it already retails for roughly $600.

On the other hand, the current iPhone SE only sells for $429 in the United States. But with the rumored new display design, the pricing might significantly hike.

All that said, the analyst further noted that the Cupertino firm "may need to reconsider the product positioning. Besides that, the return on investment for the E 4 also plays a significant role.
