Philips Hue Sync is Coming to Samsung TVs

As per the latest report by 9to5 Mac, the Philips Hue Sync lets its users mirror the colors and effects from their TV screens to their smart bulbs.

However, the Hue Sync app that makes the synchronization possible without any third-party devices is only available on Philips TVs. But this time, the Signified-owned firm announced during CES 2023 that the app is heading to Samsung displays.

Previously, Samsung TV owners had to purchase a Philip Hue Play HDMI Sync Box to mirror what they were watching to their lighting.

The HDMI device works for all HDMI devices, which includes Samsung TVs. However, owners of the latter could start using the Hue Sync app, allowing users to sync without any third-party device.

The Business Leader of Philips Hue, Jasper Vervoort, says that the Philips Hue Sync support for Samsung TVs is a monumental event for them.

Vervoort considers "this is an incredible milestone in Philips Hue's home entertainment journey and our ever-evolving partnership with Samsung."

He touts that the arrival of Hue Sync to Samsung TVs "offer more immersive and personalized experiences."

The exec went on to say that they "look forward to bringing this new way to enable surround lighting to living rooms across the world."

How to Use Sync App on Samsung

According to Tech Hive, the Hue Sync app is only available to 2022 Samsung TVs under the QR60 or the newer ones coming this year. Users can install it straight from the Samsung TV app store.

The Sync app lets Samsung TV owners adjust the brightness of the Hue lights, as well as their intensity. There are also two modes, namely "game" and "video."

So if you are gaming using your Samsung TV, the Sync app has something for you. And if you decide to watch movies and binge series, you can easily switch to "video" mode.

Tech Hive notes in its report that the Hue Sync app for TVs supports stunning quality images of up to 8K. If you have HDR10+, it also works seamlessly with it.

However, the app comes with a hefty price tag. It retails for a staggering $129.99.

To put it in perspective, the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box is much more expensive, starting at $225.90. So even if the Sync app for Samsung is quite costly, it sure is cheaper than getting the third-party device.
