Thanks to a new update from developer Respawn Entertainment, "Apex Legends" gamers will soon be able to host their own tournaments and private matches.

The developer confirmed this week that with the release of the update bringing players the Spellbound Collection Event, the community would be able to access the private match option that has been languishing on the game's main menu for years. This is according to a Comicbook report.

A Look at Private Matches

Previously, the feature was only available to approved partners and pros, but with the debut of the Spellbound Collection Event on January 10, it will be made available to all players.

Private matches allow players to organize their own tournaments and have been used in official tournaments as well as those put together by content creators. The feature was first added to Apex Legends in 2020 during the Grand Soiree event but was initially limited to certain players.

"Our goal here is to provide great tools for tournament organizers for setting up teams and matches at events and a better spectating experience for fans," Respawn said at the time. The developer has not yet shared the full details on how the private match feature will work for the general public but has said that players will be able to generate their own tournament codes and host custom private matches.

The addition of private matches will open up new opportunities for organized play among both large and small groups of players. It will also give players the chance to create their own tournaments and potentially stream them on platforms like Twitch.

While the patch has not yet been deployed, it is expected to be available before the start of the Collection Event on January 10th. Until then, players will have to wait for more information on how the private match feature will work and how they can take advantage of it.

The Spellbound Collection Event

The "Apex Legends" Spellbound Collection Event is fast approaching, bringing a slew of new content and features to the popular battle royale game.

The event, which Respawn Entertainment developed, will take place from Jan. 10 to 18 and will include a new limited-time mode, new cosmetics, and the return of the fan-favorite Control.

During the Spellbound Collection event, Control will be available to play on three different maps: Storm Point: Barometer, World's Edge: Lava Siphon, and Olympus: Hammond Labs. The game mode has received several updates, including the ability to join a match in progress, new end-of-match XP rewards, and various bug and crash fixes.

SMG have been added to the crafter, while the Spitfire and Peacekeeper have returned to the floor. The Anvil Receiver Hop-Up has also been introduced.

Several weapons have received balance changes, including the Limb damage multiplier being reduced to 0.75 and the Flatline and R301 damage being reduced. The Prowler Burst PDW has received a damage increase, while the Sentinel now requires one shield cell to Energize (previously 2).
