Google Pixel January 2023 Update Reportedly Breaks Bluetooth Connection

As per the latest news story by the 9to5 Google, some Pixel users report that the new Google January 2023 update seemingly makes the Bluetooth connection for cars and Android Auto janky.

When these Pixel owners got their hands on the latest update, new problems arose.

For instance, reports point out that they are having a hard time connecting their phones to their cars using Bluetooth. Instead, an error message nudges users to "turn the device off and back on" as there is a problem connecting.

Users say that this problem did exist before the January 2023 update rolled out. So the connection issues could come from the latest update.

Android Auto Issues

Besides the unreliable Bluetooth connection, the Pixel users are complaining about connection problems with Android Auto since they got the latest update. Most reports point out playback issues.

It might be due to the Bluetooth issue, but it could also be unrelated to it. The root cause of the issue with Android Auto remains to be seen. The search engine giant has yet to address these problems.

However, it is worth noting that the new January patch fixes two of the Bluetooth issues. So that might have something to do with the issues that Pixel users are grappling with.

Some users have tried drastic troubleshooting options like a factory reset on Android Auto, but it does nothing to fix the issue.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the new update notably introduces Static Spatial Audio to newer Pixels, including the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro, as well as the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. This essentially lets users enjoy more immersive surround sound support while connected to headphones.

As for the refinements, the January 2023 update fixes the janky fingerprint recognition, along with Bluetooth issues. The Bluetooth issues that the update smashed includes certain problems in Bluetooth Low Energy.

But this time, it looks like the latest update brought more Bluetooth connection issues for some users.
