Kano Computing has revealed another unique creation, as reported by Engadget. The Stem Projector follows the Stem Player that was launched in 2021. However, the company ditched its collaboration with Ye (formerly Kanye West) and developed a new product, shifting from music to video.

The collaboration with Kano and Ye has ended due to the artist's anti-Semitic rants. In fact, the CEO of Kano and Ye were involved in two lawsuits for the use of unlicensed samples on Donda 2 in 2022.

NEW YORK, NY - MAY 04: Co-founder of Kano Computing, Alex Klein (L) and Natasha Lomas, writer at TechCrunch appear onstage during TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2015 - Day 1 at The Manhattan Center on May 4, 2015 in New York City.

A Portable Projector

The new product is a battery-powered project designed for art or movies. It allows users to watch regular videos, remix preloaded clips, and create visual landscapes.

The Stem Projector looks similar to the Stem Player, featuring swirling lights and buttons. It also features a mini-HDMI port to plug in other devices and supports AirPlay and Chromecast.

However, it only has a maximum brightness of 300 lumens or 150 ANSI lumens, which makes it a hard sell as a standard projector.

On the other hand, it encourages users to play and remix. It comes loaded with "Galaxy View," a machine-learning dreamlike collection of preloaded and live content. Moreover, it comes with additional controls that allow users to change the size and shape of images and trigger similar thematic content.

The projector will also allow users to rotoscope characters and apply filters, such as splicing together clips with related color themes.

Moreover, it comes with 256GB internal storage, but users can add more storage through a microSD card. It comes with a built-in kickstand, so it can be propped at various angles easily. The battery can last four to five hours of continuous use.

The company is now taking pre-orders for the Stem Projector, with the first one thousand devices available in a limited-edition color priced at $1,000. Shopping will start in spring, and then the price will drop to $600 soon.
