Ubisoft's 'Skull and Bones' is Delayed Again

Ubisoft confirmed in its latest press release that it is delaying "Skull & Bones" once again, as per a recent report by IGN.

The online news outlet notes that the delay for "Skull & Bones" is already the sixth instance that Ubisoft has stalled the game.

With that, the new target date for "Skull & Bones" is "early 2023 to 2024."

IGN says that it seemingly pertains to the fiscal year of Ubisoft. And as such, the earliest that the long-delayed game could see the light of day is in April 2023. But it could be as late as December this year.

That is if it no longer faces any additional delays, which would be the seventh time the "Far Cry" maker has stalled it.

More Unannounced Games Canceled

According to PC Gamer, Ubisoft decided to scrap three more unannounced games, blaming the struggles the gaming firm grapples with.

IGN highlights that the gaming firm canceled four unannounced titles last year. And now, as early as January, the "Assassin's Creed" maker is abandoning three projects it has yet to announce.

Given that these titles are unannounced, it is unclear which of its rumored upcoming games the gaming firm dropped.

After all, these projects have been completely scrapped before Ubisoft even confirms they are working on them.

Ubisoft CEO Explains Latest Move

The Ubisoft Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Yves Guillemot, disclosed that they are facing a couple of struggles these days.

Guillemot admits that "we are clearly disappointed by our recent performance." The chief executive revealed that they "are facing contrasted market dynamics."

He believes that "the industry continues to shift towards mega-brands and everlasting live games, in the context of worsening economic conditions affecting consumer spending."

The Ubisoft boss further added that "Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope" surprisingly underperformed "in the final weeks of 2022" amid the holiday craze until "early January."

On top of that, PC Gamer reports that Guillemot also pointed out that "Just Dance 2023 underperformed as well."

Given the situation, the French gaming firm has decided to cancel at least three games up its sleeve. Not to mention that it had to delay "Skull & Bones" once again.

It remains to be seen if the "Far Cry" maker is canceling more unannounced titles or if more delays are coming. Hopefully not.
