There is an alleged upcoming device from Samsung that will release soon, with the annual refresh of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, now on its fifth iteration that will feature a new hinge. Reports claim that it would be the "droplet" hinge to replace its old technology, centering on less visible creases on its screen for its foldable features.
Additionally, the smartphone will retain its waterproofing features for the device, with a better system in place for its upcoming arrival later this year.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: Droplet Hinge Design Coming

According to an online leaker and speculator, Ice Universe, the Galaxy Z Fold 5's latest release this year will feature a new design for the smartphone, particularly on its hinge that will get the "droplet" style. Internally, this new hinge is called the "dumbbell" hinge, and this is Samsung Electronics' latest focus for its flagship foldable.
The goal is to reduce the crease on its folding point found on the screen.
The leaker also said that all other foldable device manufacturers, except for Samsung, have already been using the drop hinge for their technology for a long time.
Notably, this drop hinge is what Oppo's Find N's series use on its folding technology, one that has been found effective and features less crease for the device.

Galaxy Z Fold 5: Features and Specs
Apart from the fewer creases for the Z Fold 5, the new hinge would also deliver a waterproofing system for the device, and the leaker claimed that it would now have this capability alongside the change.
It is unknown if this new droplet hinge refresh would guarantee Samsung's Z Fold 5 an IP water and dustproof rating, but it might apply for it to legitimize said feature.
Samsung's Foldable Devices
In 2019, Samsung debuted its foldable lineup for the world to see, and it sees an annual refresh that adds more features and functions that delivers a better experience to all. For 2023, it is set to see the latest iteration with the Z Fold 5, the horizontally folding smartphone that has already been leaked with what to expect on the device.
However, there are more plans from Samsung coming later this year, and it does not stop on smartphones.
According to speculations, there is a planned Samsung foldable display laptop coming to users this 2023, and while there are no confirmations yet, it may be possible since there are other companies that debuted this already.
Foldables are already dominating the market, as people want larger displays but can stow it away in a smaller size when traveling or placing them on their desks and bags.
