Apple's MicroLED for iPhones, MacBooks, and iPads

The Cupertino-based tech firm has been working on microLED displays for more than six years now, as per a recent report by XDA Developers.

The online news outlet notes that the renowned tech firm has been gradually working its way to being less dependent on other suppliers. And to do so, Apple is gearing up to produce the hardware of its products like the iPhones and MacBooks in-house.

In fact, the phone maker has been producing its own chipset for its iPhone with the A-series Bionic chip. And more recently, the M series processors made their way to iMacs and MacBooks.

And these chipsets are astoundingly impressive, making iPhones and MacBooks powerful enough to compete with their rivals.

This time, it looks like Apple is also working to push for its in-house microLED screens on the next-generation iPhone, iPad, and MacBooks.

Bloomberg journalist, Mark Gurman, reports in his latest newsletter that Apple is expected to bring microLED to its products like the Watch, iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. The new display is likely to see the shimmer of the spotlight on the Watch Ultra sometime next year or in 2024.

In fact, Mac Rumors notes in its report that the tech behemoth started working on its microLED project in 2017.

Apple reportedly seeks to replace display offerings from LG and Samsung in the future in favor of their in-house microLED screen. These South Korean screen makers are phenomenally known for producing stunning displays, which rock eye-catching vibrancy.

The in-house offering of the iPhone maker reportedly hopes to bring a couple of refinements, such as its brightness, viewing angles, and color reproduction.

Mac Rumors notes that these improvements should help the images to look more stunning than ever, making them look like they are "painted" on top of the screen instead of looking like it has a backlight.

But it is worth mentioning that Apple has yet to confirm that it is working to include its upcoming products with an in-house micro LED screen in the future.
