SpaceX is now hiring a new Starshield data engineer.

This is a part of the independent aerospace company's efforts to improve its line of business. 

Back on December 22, 2022, SpaceX unveiled Starshield. 

The space agency said that Starshield is aimed to help U.S. national security government agencies, as reported by SpaceNews

According to Startup Jobs, the Starshield software team is creating highly reliable in-space mesh networks.

Aside from this, the group also focuses on designing secure systems to guarantee access to designing next-gen communication and sensing software for the U.S. military market. 

Based on these details, interested applicants need to be high-skilled regarding software and other techs needed for internet service.

As of writing, SpaceX is explicitly looking for a talented data engineer who can join the new Starshield software team.  

Qualifications, Offered Salary, and More

For those data engineers who want to become a part of SpaceX's Starshield software team, here are the basic qualifications you must have: 

  • Experience building solutions with HDFS, HBase, or other storage technology.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, physics, mathematics, or a STEM discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience in data engineering in lieu of a degree.
  • Development experience using one or more of the following: C++, C#, Python, Java, Angular, React, or JavaScript. 

When it comes to skills, you need to have the following: 

  • Knowledge of Kubernetes.
  • Experience using Spark, Presto, Flink, or Snowflake. 
  • C++ experience. 
  • Experience handling large (TB+) datasets. 
  • Professional experience in analytics, data science, or machine learning.

SpaceX offers $120,000 to $145,000 per year for level I software engineers. 

On the other hand, level II software engineers can receive $140,000 to $170,000 yearly salary.  

Aside from the new Starshield, SpaceX is also busy with other things. 

Recently, the new SpaceX Falcon Heavy mission USSF-67 launched to orbit. 

We also reported that the new agreement between SpaceX and NSF happened to prevent Starlink satellites from intervening in astronomical observations.
