The Apple logo is displayed on an iPhone 6 on July 21, 2015 in San Francisco, California. Apple reported a 38 percent surge in third quarter earnings with a profit of $10.7 billion compared to $7.74 billion one year ago. The quarterly earnings were boosted by strong demand for the latest iPhones.

Many iOS smartphone users tend to disregard clearing their storage up manually.

This is because they don't know how to and find the time-consuming steps. But Apple has a new feature that will allow you to free up storage easily and quickly.

Unfortunately, not all iPhone users can use this new functionality.

Of course, your device should run the iOS 16 version. Once you update to this operating system, here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. First, visit your Photos app and go to Albums.
  2. After that, scroll down until you see the Duplicates album.
  3. All the images in the Duplicates album can be removed, allowing you to free up storage.

This new feature can allow you more storage in just a few seconds. But, as mentioned above, it is an iOS 16 feature.

You are good to go if you have an iPhone SE 2nd-gen or other new models, such as the latest iPhone 14.

How to Free Up iPhone Storage

Of course, iPhone models older than the iPhone SE 2nd-gen can't access the latest Photo app mentioned above.

MacWorld provided some of the things you can do to ensure that unnecessary files and other content are cleared up:

  • Delete apps that are no longer useful to you.
  • Try following Apple's storage recommendations.
  • Clear up your iPhone's cache.
  • Remove photos that are too old or no longer valuable to you.
  • Delete text messages that are no longer needed.
