Sharing a solar panel in different rooms or apartments is already a challenge, as sometimes, more is needed to produce power for each tenant. However, in the world's first development by the United Kingdom in Cardiff's Odet Court, it managed to make its solar panels supply the needs of different apartments under one roof.

Apartments are notorious for the power it uses, especially as each renter mostly gets their submeter, which means that they can use as much power as they want and thereby contributing more to the planet's carbon footprint.

Allume Energy's latest development, called "SolShare," is the one which UK's Cardiff used for the housing complex called Odet Court to transition to clean energy for all the apartments in a building. The company said that realty developers and homeowners can only purchase or install 24 different panels and inverters to supply the 24 apartments in the building.

Using the technology it developed, it is enough for one set of solar panels and inverters to power the entire building, with a significant amount of energy already shared across the tenants.

According to its press release, each apartment gets 75 percent of the power it needs to supply its needs for electricity, which is a significant number in clean energy generation.

Apartments Share Clean Energy, a World's First

This is a world first, especially as there is a challenge to apply clean energy among shared housing complexes or homes, being a far more expensive project than a single house. However, Australia's Allume Energy solved this, as demonstrated on Odet Court.

"At a time when costs are rising, improving the energy efficiency of homes will not only help us to deal with the climate emergency but also help families through the cost of living crisis," said Julie James, Welsh Minister for Climate Change.

Clean Energy in Houses

Modern, clean energy and alternative power sources are still optional in this era. People can apply these solar-generated electricity options if they have the extra money. It is still optional to have clean power options in one's home in most regions in the world, but there are plenty of options already from many companies.

One of the world's most famous clean energy options is Tesla, with its Powerwall and Solar roof options at home, making the transition fast and easy for everyone. Additionally, it provides a plus for those who own the company's electric vehicles, as the Powerwall would help regulate its power distribution and charging for the car.

The world is growing towards clean energy, but it is still limited to those that can afford it, as it is quite hefty to transition to clean energy, especially with the current design and planning of the home. This housing complex in Cardiff centers on transitioning to clean energy and relying less on the grids-a massive step towards its clean energy application for its tenants.
