Recently, the giant automaker conducted price drops for its Tesla Model 3 and Model Y. But, it looks like new Tesla EV models are not the only ones getting cheaper. 

iSeeCars' latest analysis revealed that the prices of 2nd-hand Tesla EVs are also dropping at fast rates.

According to NasDaq's latest report, the average price drop for late-year used Tesla EVs is around 4.8%.

This price decrease occurred from January to February, which is lower compared to the recent price drop across all late-year used cars during the same months back in 2022. 

To give you more idea, here are the price changes in used Tesla EV models: 

  • Tesla Model 3 (pre-announcement: $44,987, to post-announcement: $42, 633) 
  • Tesla Model S (pre-announcement: $90,035, to post-announcement: $85,409) 
  • Tesla Model X (pre-announcement: $86,828, to post-announcement: $83,457) 
  • Tesla Model Y (pre-announcement: $56,786, to post-announcement: $53,970)  

Aside from electric cars, iSeeCars also noted that the price for other kinds of used cars (plug-in hybrid, gasoline, hybrid, and alternative fuel) is also decreasing.

When it comes to over call comparison, used plug-in hybrid vehicles are the ones getting the cheapest; around $2,050 price drops. On the other hand, electric vehicles are in the middle; with around $930 price drops.

But, if you will not seek Tesla's assistance, then here are the things you need to check before purchasing used EV units from other people or dealers: 

  • Check the EV's average range. 
  • Try using the battery life of the used EV as a bargaining factor.
  • Always ask if the EV battery has been replaced. 
  • Ask if the battery warranty is still active or how much time it has left.
