If recent rumors are to be believed, the next-generation engine, Source 2, is on the verge of being unleashed into the Counter-Strike gaming scene. 

Rumored Launch Date for 'Counter-Strike 2' with Valve's Source 2 Engine 

Richard Lewis, a veteran journalist, has reported on his Substack that anonymous sources are claiming a tentative launch with a beta product called Counter-Strike 2 expected to hit screens around April 1st.

According to the story by Dot Esports, Valve's much-anticipated Source 2 engine is set to be released in "Counter-Strike," according to an article by veteran journalist Richard Lewis which quotes unnamed sources. 

Testing and Preparation For Release of 'CS:GO' Source 2 Engine 

The article says the game is "about ready to go," that pro players have been testing it, and that the goal was to ship it, clean up the bugs, and polish it. 

There have been rumors about the Source 2 engine coming to "CS:GO" for quite some time, with content creator Voo strongly hinting last June that a content creator playtest event was due. 

Reports of 'csgos2.exe' and 'cs2.exe' Listings on NVIDIA Drivers 

There have been leaks and rumors of developers hosting closed playtests on the upgraded engine since July, with no official announcement from Valve. 

The most tangible sign of the engine's upcoming release came from NVIDIA's latest drivers, which listed support for "csgos2.exe" and "cs2.exe", further cementing the arrival of Source 2 from Gabe Follower 2 on Twitter. 

Impending Launch Date for the Revised Version of the Popular Esports Game 

It is currently unknown how these changes will affect the esports scene or how quickly players will transition to the new version. With its concurrent player count breaking records and tournaments going bigger than ever, the community will closely observe and critique any changes to the game. 

While no exact timeline has been given, sources have estimated a tentative launch day in early April. Fans of the franchise will no doubt be eager to see how the engine expands their experience and what new features the devs have worked on behind the scenes.
