Microsoft's Edge Browser is gaining traction with users, and the Windows OS maker appears determined to make it their number one web browser choice. Their latest feature, VSR (Video Super Resolution), is a major step in the right direction towards attracting users and dominating the browser market.

Microsoft's AI-Powered Upscaling Technology: Enhancing Video Quality and Experience Within the Browser

According to the story by Giz China, this upscaling technology uses AI-powered algorithms to enhance videos within the browser, making them smoother and of a higher resolution, even with a lower network bandwidth connection.

The video has become an important part of content creation in this digital age. Some find making videos too difficult, while others skin their videos due to limitations in terms of quality. That is why Microsoft, the leading OS company, also decided to be the leading browser company.

Experience Picture-Perfect Streaming with Microsoft's VSR Feature in Edge Browser

Microsoft is now making waves with its VSR (Video Super Resolution) feature in its Edge Browser, as an article by Neowin explained. The AI-run feature automatically enhances the video quality without putting extra pressure on users' network functionality.

It removes blocky-looking areas and allows video streaming at a higher resolution. 50% of their Canary users (early testers) have enjoyed the picture-perfect streaming since its announcement at CES 2023, according to Tech Radar

Utilizing VSR Feature with Lower Network Bandwidth and GPU

The picture-perfect streaming feature benefits users with lower network bandwidth or lower-quality video sizes. However, it is important to note that VSR only works with GPU from either Nvidia or AMD, such as the RTS-20xx series or RX-5700 and upwards.

Furthermore, users may have to switch to iGPU (Integrated GPU) for it to work. But the good news is that the VSR feature may be used even on lesser GPU but with a lower resolution setting.

The Downside of VSR with Microsoft Edge Browser

The embrace of VSR has set the pace for others, such as Safari and Firefox, to follow. Nvidia has also introduced a similar feature called RTX Video Super Resolution, which works best with either Edge Browser or Chrome. But the feature requires the requirement of a much higher graphic - RTX-3000 series or 4000 series.

This feature, however, can't work with systems that use iGPU. Overall, it is obvious that Microsoft has yet again pushed the envelope by introducing its new VSR feature in its Edge Browser.

The Edge Browser is Gaining Momentum with the Introduction of VSR Feature

This isn't just going to attract users to the browser, but it will also give other browsers the much-needed push to focus more on video streaming. Introducing this feature is also a wake-up call for other browsers as Microsoft continues to offer new features and updates, thus driving more users to its Edge browser.

The introduction of the VSR is expected to shake up the browser market as Edge continues to make waves and slowly gains more and more users.
