Sad news arrives today for all NFT owners who have showcased their tokens on Facebook and Instagram, as the company will take down its support for online digital tickets. Meta is now "winding down" its features to display the crypto tokens to the public's social media accounts, with both platforms affected by this change. 

The company is looking to support more of its creators, people, and businesses using these applications and will center more on the features available for them instead of NFT. 

Meta is Taking Down NFT Support After Only a Year

Meta's Commerce Lead, Stephane Kasriel, announced via Twitter that the company is "winding down" its efforts to support NFTs on the platform to make way for other ventures on the platform. This means that both Instagram and Facebook social media apps will no longer be able to showcase, display, and share their digital tokens. 

Kasriel then claimed that this change will only be gone "for now," It may suggest that this change is temporary, especially for those heavily reliant on or utilizing this feature. 

The team only announced this feature last 2022, and it has been less than a year since its availability for creators and the public when it first arrived on Facebook.

Meta to Center on Creators, People Ventures

The company, as explained by Kasriel, will focus mostly on making more opportunities for the public to enjoy, particularly for creators, people, and businesses to thrive on its platforms. One of the main focuses of the company here is to allow messaging, and monetization over at its Reels feature for both Facebook and Instagram. 

The executive also claimed that it would provide its development of fintech tools more in the future, starting with Meta Pay. 

Meta's Fondness of the Digital World

One of the key features of Meta is the ability to enter a new world, particularly the digital one, with the many experiences available on its platforms and products. While social media opens up the world to connecting with friends and families remotely, there is also the Oculus' "Horizon Worlds" experience that allows people to connect with a better platform. 

The company also opened up access to its NFT support last year, with the early rollout arriving in June for Facebook, allowing creators to share their tokens with the world. 

Mark Zuckerberg also commemorated its arrival on Instagram, particularly with his throwback post of a Little League baseball image which he transformed into a card, also minted as a token. 

Creators and the public were able to show their love for NFTs in their respective profiles or posts on Facebook and Instagram, but this is already gone for now. The company aims to put its spending and focus on other people-centric features online instead of its digital token support, which is now getting in the trunk to make way for its other ventures.
